New additions to our product range

Laminated European redwood

We now stock a range of sizes of kiln dried laminated softwood. These timbers are laminated in either 2 or 3 pieces using a d4 glue to produce a practically defect free section with improved dimensional stability. Manufactured with the window and door market in mind these laminated timbers provide sections which eliminate the need to cut around splits and shakes, reduce movement and warping and ultimately result in less wastage for our customers.

Heat treated American ash

Available in 25mm and 32mm thick sawn boards we now keep American white ash which has been thermally modified. This process involves heating the the timber in an oxygen free environment to a temperature of between 210-230 deg c which then causes a permanent alteration to the chemical and physical properties of the wood. The result of these changes is to produce a timber which has improved dimensional stability and improved resistance to decay meaning timbers like ash, which normally are restricted to internal applications, can now be used externally. The modification process also has the affect of altering the colour of the timber to a dark brown colour.
